- Hi folks,
Maintaining a guestbook here has been something of a nightmare, and one I was ill-prepared to manage it seems. So, once again I've had to try something a little different. Hopefully this new service I'm using will behave a little more as we'd expect.
Apologies to everyone who posted but their posts never showed up. I think I've rounded them all up below. And thanks to each and every one of you for taking time to leave a memory or just say Hello. It means a lot, and I'm sure Dad would be happy to hear from you, as it were.

Knight was so breathtakingly handsome. We called him our, "Knight in shining armor."
Jeanne was my mentor and she was so proud of him and his brothers! Never a mother more loving of her three boys.
My father was a friend of Izzy's. They played polka at the Elks Club and our insurance was always at I.Berman and Company.
I do not know who has started this site but my heart lept up when I saw that picture of him and his children.
Sincerely appreciative,
Dot Moore

Hello this is Jan Robinson Gold (Mother was Ester Ruth Berman Robinson). My son Travis Gold has been visiting with me in Palm Desert Ca. and we just discovered your/our family tree site.
I remember visiting your aunt Bessie Cahn in Union Springs many years ago with my Mother....as a matter of fact my parents met because of your grandfather Izzy. It seems both Izzy and Charlie (Robinson) were in a crap game with Charlie being the loser. Izzy took pity on my pop and took him home for a nice dinner. My mother was visiting Bessie at the time and the rest is history.
Love to chat.
Cheers
Jan Robinson Gold

Someone sent me your website address. I am a member of the Covington Historical Society here in Andalusia. Recently I have written "A Riding Tour of Historic Andalusia" which is currently being perfected for publication. Mr. Berman and my grandfather Charlie Brunson of the Brunson Bakery were very close friends. Their business houses were located adjacent to each other there on the corners of S. 3-Notch St. and Pear St. Mrs. Berman and my grandmother were also very good friends. I have referred to the I. Berman house on Dunson St. and I. Berman and Sons business in my riding tour but would like much more information, enough for a historical society program. If anyone in the family could come to town to present a program for the CHS, it would be welcomed. I know that the Bermans were at one time the only Jewish family in town for a long time. My Berman developed at least one subdision off the Antioch Rd., the Berman Subdivision, where the streets are named after his family members, Linda, Ann, and Marie. I am a real estate agent/owner and at the present time, I have a listing of a property on Marie St. If someome in the family could please send me some information on the Andalusia Bermans, I would appreciate it so very much. Our goal in the CHS is to preserve and publicize the history of Covington Cty., Andalusia being the county seat. I knew Doris very well. She was a volunteer at the chamber of commerce when I was a president back in the 1980's. I will appreciate hearing from someone in the Berman family. I read the "Yank" Berman biography and it mentioned the family moving south to Andalusia. Is the sister in California still living? She was a friend of my mother's, Marge Brunson Bass. I would love to be able to talk to her. Thank you for sharing the Berman story in Montgomery. I would like to do the same for the Berman family in Andalusia.

Five years. I remember Dad telling me a few years back on Mother's Day to "Be sure to call your Mother. I wish I could call mine...." Yep.

I knew Jean and Issy. I was from an old Black Belt family, and knew so many of the Knight family members. Of Hale County. She told me she had named Knight after one of that family. A beautiful lady full of personality and kindness. I still have many friends and family members living in Montgomery.
My husband was in Command and Staff school at that time.
That year felt like I was at home, in "good old" Alabama. So Knight's mother helped to make that year special for me. Christmas night she planned a steak cook out for us and my mother. I didn't make it. As the 3rd of my 4 children decided to get born that night. My husband took me to the base hospital and as they told him that it might be a while so he went back home for "the cookout". Then arrived back at the hospital just in time for the birth of his daughter. Jean and I kept in touch even after she moved to the cost.
I think of her often, Charlotte M. Jernigan

Knight Jr,
Rod Frazer wants to blow up a photo of Knight and hang it in our office. He wants the one of Knight on the cover of this site (face shot with the lake and boat in the backgroud). We are trying to blow it up to a 30x40 and the photo copy shop needs you to send it in full resolution to them. Please contact me. I sure do miss working with your Dad. Thank you

Would like to contact an old friend, Ivy Mauk; knew her in 1958 !!!!! Forward this to her if you would: We met in Franklin NC back in 1958--you were vacationing with your mom; stayed at Panorama Courts Motel. Remember that you said you went to Stevens College. I visited you in Montgomery later that year.

You two behave!
A little more than a week after his 73rd birthday, on Sunday July 9th 2006, Knight's older brother Fred Berman shuffled off his mortal coil.
Knight's passing hit Dad hard. They always say the surviving significant other seems to go within the next three years. Dad couldn't even wait two!
One of the things that comforts me in Dad's passing is that he's with Knight now! And Jeanne and Izzy, and all the ancestors that he sought after through family trees, etc.
Y'all are probably hangin' out at a card game, contemplating your next prank on some unsuspecting poor souls.
I love you both, Jordan

I have many fond memories of Knight and the time we spent at his lake house. Knight really enjoyed his evening cocktail cruises! We had a great time even if he did get us lost on the lake a few times at night. God Bless You Knight - you are missed!

I just learned about this web page from Malcomb Massey. I am so glad you did this. I was out of the country when Knight died last year so I didn't get to go to the funeral and properly say goodby. This will help me remember some wonderful times with a dear friend.

I just learned that my old friend had passed on. I have fond memories of trips to San Francisco, Atlanta and the golf matches Knight lured me into. I still have the Wind Lakes CC hat I won from him at Callaway Gardens!

KBJr. Fine job. Will never forget KB giving me the chore of trying to get you into the insurance business. My best memory is when Cary I visited when he was most ill, I asked if we could say a prayer. His eyes lighted up and said he would love that. God Bless

What a great tribute to your father. Victoria told me about the site tonight, and I have very much enjoyed the fruits of your labor. I think of your father all the time and miss the something extra that he brought along with him every where he went.

Quick story: Dad & I were catching a plane from San Jose a month after the 9/11 attacks. We got on the shuttle bus to the terminal and discovered the driver was an older Muslim gentleman with turban, white beard, etc. As I sat down among the passengers, Dad stopped and proclaimed loudly, "You're not gonna HIJACK us, are you?" The entire bus held its breath till Dad laughed and coaxed a smile from the driver. He was fearless that way....

'Will never forget the night Robert, Knight's younger brother, came home from school for Christmas. We were all sitting around the table at Jeanne & Izzy's and Robert chided Knight with, "Well, brother, looks like you're putting on a little weight ... getting a little jowly, huh." Knight, always a quick wit instantly replied, "Tis the season to be jowly."
Love you dearly, Knight!

It was an honor and privilege to sing God's praises at the grave side services of a man so evidently loved by so many. To feel God's presence as friends and family gathered was the day's blessing. God will hold us accountable for what we do with the work He has given us to do, and our best paycheck will come at the foot of His throne when He says, "Well done, my good and faithful servant". My deepest blessings and comfort for the family is offered up to our living Savior, Jesus Christ, this day.
